Guy Van Nueten has built up a solid reputation as a composer and pianist in Belgium. He is a performer and/or arranger on the golden records of dEUS, Admiral Freebee and Daan. He made the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra orchestrations for the final concert of the cultural year 'Brugge 2002'. Two of his songs are in the ‘top100 Belgian songs’ of Knack magazine. His musical 'Soup Kinders’ (text by Gerda Dendooven) received a musical award in 2005 and started a 2nd life abroad this year. The film, ‘Eva reste au placard ...’, directed by Alex Stockman, for which he wrote the piano music, was awarded recently at the Venice Film Festival. The double cd ‘Tom Barman and Guy Van Nueten Live’, on which he wrote and performed the piano parts, was released in Europe and appeared in the top 10 CD’s of 2003 of various journals. A collaboration with LesBalletsCdelaB in 2005 led to the CD 'Bach'. Here Nueten combines his love for baroque music with influences from rock, folk and electro. This CD was called "a masterpiece" by Dutch magazine OOR.
His style is characterized by a pronounced lyricism, an urge for simplicity, influences from pop, renaissance and baroque, use of phase shift and a creative electronics.
