The story of Suarez is the story of three musicians from Madagascar and a Spanish Belgian in Mons. Max Randriamanjava, Pata Randriamanjava and their cousin Dada Ravalison came over to Mons for a world music contest. After winning this, their band N’java signed to a major and left for 3 world tours. They stayed in Mons, rehearsing in a small studio with lots of other musicians like Marc Pinilla who joined them later on in Suarez.
If we can believe the title of their album (‘On Attend’), 6 months ago nobody was waiting for Suarez. However, their first single, good supports of Vanessa Paradis and Thomas Dutronc and a release in France on Remark/Universal, the label of Marc Lumbroso (Raphaël, JJ Goldman…), caused a rumor about the band.
Suarez sounds like the mix of French songs, Madagascar music, English pop, American negro music and the saudade of Cape Verde. This mix of acoustic instruments, melodies and subtle vocal harmonies makes the songs of Suarez timeless.
